Ashby's 50 Year Celebration
When you read the history of the Ashby family, the growth of their business rose from men who were visionaries, market leaders, people who were looking for the next opportunity, always trying to stay that one step ahead.
Their focus was supplying the small builder, the handyman, a company offering a complete package, concrete and contracting, building relationships with customers that lasted a lifetime. However they didn't turn their back on the opportunities of commercial construction and were suppliers to some of the key construction projects in Christchurch, including the Clinical Services building at the hospital, the Christchurch Town Hall, the main aircraft maintenance hangar at Christchurch Airport and the extensions to the main runway to accommodate landing 737 aircraft.
In 2007 when after years of planning, consulting and arguing with environment courts Christchurch North became the newest and biggest concrete plant in the South Island.
Today, life has changed immeasurably for many Cantabrians. Like the Ashby family many years ago we are going to take this opportunity to be market leaders, to be visionaries, we have recognised that in this market bigger is better. We have invested in the largest fleet of 7.0m3 concrete trucks in New Zealand, Ashby Ready Mixed have the largest single fleet in Christchurch with 55 trucks and the ability to deliver 150m3 in a single round.
While the rebuild appears to be making a slow start we all know it will ultimately gain momentum. Ashby Ready Mixed will continue to ensure they have ability to service the market as it grows, if needed with more trucks and more concrete plants.
