SLAB CONCRETE

Slab concrete is an above ground engineered flooring system that delivers real benefits over conventional floors and foundations.

A grillage of beams within the concrete slab provides a stiffer and stronger final product than a conventional 100mm concrete slab on grade, and because of its inherent strength a deepened perimeter footing can usually be omitted.

Where to Use

Slab concrete can be used on all ground conditions regardless of your land classification, including:

  • Residential foundation and floor slabs

  • Shed floors

  • Light commercial buildings

  • Warehouses

Benefits

Concrete slab has the following benefits over conventional floors and foundations:

  • Minimal excavation and fast build time

  • Assurance of engineer designed strength

  • Design can be tailored to any land classification

  • Sustainable pod option available

  • Improved thermal performance (R-value)

  • Easy installation of services

  • CodeMark Certified & BRANZ Appraised

Sustainable pod option available

Our concrete slabs now include Q-POD as a sustainable alternative to traditional polystyrene pod void formers within the raft foundation system. Polystyrene pods can be directly substituted for Q-POD, with four pods replicating the standard 1100mm x 1100mm sqm and 220mm deep polystyrene pods.

QPOD has the following benefits:

  • 100% recyclable with zero landfill waste

  • Reduced site waste

  • Reduced transportation and storage costs to site

  • Easy and fast installation

Certified solution

Ashby’s concrete slabs are BRANZ Appraised and CodeMark Certified. Having a CodeMark Certification means building consent authorities will accept our concrete slabs as complying with the New Zealand Building Code (when used as specified in the CodeMark certificate). You will still need to apply for building consent, however the CodeMark means no delays at council.

FLOOR CONCRETE

Floor concrete steel fibre reinforced concrete is an economical alternative to traditional crack control mesh reinforcement.

Our floor concrete is manufactured in NZRMCA audited concrete plants and arrive on site as a pre-reinforced end product, ready to use.

Steel fibre reinforced concrete is an economical alternative to traditional crack control mesh reinforcement and can be used for house slabs, shops, warehouses or any lightly loaded concrete ground floor.

The concrete arrives on site pre-reinforced, offering an easy and cost effective way to reduce crack formation and eliminates the cost of loading, storing, moving, cutting/tripping and placing mesh and chairs.
